Can I ask, is there a ghost that hangs around at bottom of Birk Brow. We were driving back from a ceilidh in Whitby and as we came down to the bottom of the bank we saw a man in his 40's with a very old 1940's style raincoat on. He was stood at the side of the road as if to cross. As we got very close in the car he vanished into nowhere. I am a sceptic and this sighting has stuck with me for years. This would have been about 2005. Has this been seen by anybody else and if so what is the story behind this. He looked like a serviceman in a uniform - weird

My grandparents moved to Aysdalegate in 1963, I was born in Middleborough and moved to Aysdalegate in 1966, and later to Charlton’s in 1970. My parents still live there and I have a brother in Margrove Park. I lived there when the Community Centre (we called it the Institute) burnt down, for a kid it was an event to remember.
I attended Mangrove Park School and later LJS in Guisborough. It was a close community, I guess it’s changed a lot. Familiar family names to name a few were Chamberlains, Cook, Prouts, Magor, Watsons, Readman, Wright, Buckingham, Pearson, Freeman, Holland.
We had a small corner shop and even a Fish & Chip Shop for some time. It was a great place to grow up, lots of great memories. I left to work overseas in 1985 and still live in the Middle East.
I saw in the web site the story of Paul Watson, I was there when Paul was hit by the car. It shook the whole village, his mother was so devastated, as a kid I remember the cries even today. He was in a coma for a long time, I think more than six weeks. I saw him in 2008, he is doing great considering that accident. My younger brother Zarren was also knocked down on that road and was in hospital for many months, legs broken in three places, crushed hip and ankle.
If anyone has pictures from those days, I would love to receive them. Zanemt@yahoo.com
Regards to all old friends. Zane

yes there was a few experiences with an old lady in the front bedroom and she latched on to the teenage daughter and followed her and knocked clocks over. also a man used to sit in the window looking down and it is said he was a watchman. a very paranormal house.
