It wonderful to see this site, I hope it prospers. I lived at No 39 with my parents (Harold and Doreen), my grandmother lived at No 42, and my Aunt and Uncle and Cousins at no 53 (it may have been 51… the first house on the corner directly opposite No 42 and the shop at No 41)
Names I remember are Ivan Alderson, the Porritts, The Holmes, Mark Pearson… and others

Hi, im looking for my family history of the Jacksons. My great grandad was George Jackson and my grandad (his son) was Thomas Jackson. They have both passed on now and are burried in St Aidens Church Boosbeck. I found out at the weekend George lived at number 10 then had to move when the houses where getting revamped and modernised. Does anyone remember them or Know what house they moved to? Id love to hear any stories about them especially as i never met George. Thanks Kelly.

Marian, sorry your email to me was returned. I just wanted to say that I think the letter that was sent to council members etc following Joe’s accident was well constructed. I believe we should also draw attention to the insufficient warning signs on the whole road. One is hidden behind an overgrown hedge!

Looks like somebody’s dragging their feet again over the postponed Safety Meeting. Perhaps thet’re hoping we’ll have forgotten about Joe by the time they get round to it!

I’ve just spent my afternoon looking at your website in the community centre with you – the best view I’ve seen from a village hall, I must say – and I just want to say thank you for making me welcome and showing me round the real and the virtual life of Margrove Park.
The site is a pleasure to use. I like the story about the shops but wish some of them were still here. And the walks inspire me to go out and try one, except that it has just started to rain.
With best wishes to you all and for the next stage of the project,
Ann
I don’t have a great deal of infomration on the Waller side of the family – but I do have information on the Rowbottoms – Elizabeth’s parents are buried in St Aiden’s, Boosbeck. William’s diary is published on the web “Diary of a miner”. Interesting reading.
what a brilliant website , i have really enjoyed looking at it

My dad was called Dalos Young, was born in 1930 and grew up in Margrove Park, brought up by his gran. I think her name was Annie Elizabeth Young. I’m trying to do my family tree but don’t know anything about his father, Annie’s husband or children. If anyone knew my dad (now passed away) what he was like as a boy, where he worked etc the information would be much appreciated especially as there are many unanswered questions from this part of my family.
Thanks, Elaine
My Uncle Albert Raymond William Ashworth was born when my Grandmother, Edwina Ashworth lived in #29 Margrove Park in 1919. She was married to William Albert Ashworth, a Police Constable, who died of Influenza, whilst living in #29 on the 17th November, 1919.
Great Website, I lived at Boosbeck from 1962 to 1974 went to Boosbeck school and lived at 50 Gerrie st the end house overlooking Boosbeck church.Sometimes me & my mates would walk to Margrove Park just to play.I now live in Saskatchewan Canada and often think about my childhood growing up at Boosbeck. If anyone has any photos of Boosbeck please put them on this site.

Hi what a wonderful site. While doing my Family History have recently discovered that one member of the Holmes family lived 69 Margrove Park, Boosbeck – he, Alfred George Holmes known as Reginald, I know he had 5 children. Michael, Stuart, Marian, Annette and Ingram. Does anyone remember them or know where they are now? Also, fingers crossed does anyone have photos of any of the Holmes’.
